At the beginning of the year 2007, AFC and ADG entered into a strategic partnership with the aim to implement jointly Technical Assistance Projects focussing on financial systems development. As a result, we are implementing already four projects together.

 

The 1 ^st Financial Expert Day - the first but surely not the last of its kind - was addressed to our associated experts and staff members to thank for their fruitful cooperation and to discuss future opportunities. More than 20 national and international experts together with key staff from AFC / ADG spent a weekend in the Bank Training Centre of ADG, which is located in the beautiful castle of Montabaur in the heart of the Westerwald. This created an inspiring working atmosphere.

 

On the first day, our experts presented success stories and lessons learnt from our projects in China, Mongolia, Romania, Palestinian Territories and Lebanon. It turned out that each description was followed by heated discussions about specific project contents as well as what have been success factors of the projects. Following this interesting and fruitful dialogue, a guided tour through Montabaur castle was organized. Though it was utterly cold outside, everybody followed the explanations of the guide with wide interest. It has to be mentioned, that among all, it seemed that the large wine cellar attracted the greatest attention…

 

On the second day, strategic working groups were set-up in order to go beyond the ongoing projects and discuss interactively the challenges and opportunities in the sector that are ahead of us aiming for deepening our collaboration on upcoming projects. Due to the large amount of up-coming new ideas and trends, AFC and ADG decided to set up special working groups dealing with these new ideas.

 

Summing it up, the 1 ^st Financial Expert Day was warmly welcomed by all the participating experts. Just too quote one out of many similar feedbacks: "These two day were perfect for networking and gave me energy as well as new ideas for my own work when I am going back to my country".

 

Due to the success, AFC and ADG already scheduled a 2 ^nd Financial Expert Day for 2010. Like the former Expert Day it will take place at the same time, i.e. on the second weekend in January 2010.
