AFC participates in the Cooperation Market with in "Agriculture and Climate Change - New Concept Proposals from Policymakers and Industry"
Berlin 2010
The impact of climate change is one of the key challenges facing us today in environmental, social and economic policy terms. This holds true for all sectors at global and at regional levels.
With the subject "Agriculture and Climate Change - New Concept Proposals from Policymakers and Industry" the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) takes up the challenges associated with climate change at the International Green Week and, at the same time, follows up on "food security" which was the main topic in 2009.
Agriculture Ministers and representatives of related organizations and research institutes from around the globe attended the discussion events and panels on the Berlin Summit on 16th of January 2010 during the Green Week in order to discuss experiences, concepts and strategies in the field of climate protection and adaptation pursued in their countries.
Since end of 2007 AFC is a member of the GOPA Group, a German consulting group with a long tradition in the successful implementation of more than 4,500 technical assistance projects in over 130 developing and transition economies since 1965. The Group has also responded to the complex issue of climate change by creating the in-house 'GOPA Climate Change Unit', an interdisciplinary group of staff members focusing on the implementation of climate change projects and knowledge transfer. The GOPA Group offers various services in climate change adaptation and mitigation covering sectors like renewable energy, waste management, transport, agriculture, forestry, environmental- and water management as well as health promotion. Within the gopa group AFC is in charge for projects in the field of agriculture, agribusiness, food, rural SME's and financial sector development.
Along to this conference AFC continued its regular participation in the Cooperation Market with an information booth. Referring to the topic of the event and visitors from African and the Latin American countries, AFC this year enlarged its comprehensive presentation of projects from Central and Eastern Europe by project information and presentations from Asia, Africa and Latin America. Numerous experts, working in the rural development, agricultural and food sectors, representatives from public entities and institutions and private companies and official Delegations took the opportunity to visit the AFC booth.
We thank our partners for fruitful discussions.
