Description:
|
The overall objective of this project is to prepare the second phase of Trade and Agricultural Support Programme (TASP) that addresses key supply side constraints and better exploits market access opportunities by small holder farmers (including women) and businesses for key products and services
Based in Dar es Salaam but involved in the data collection and in the participatory meetings throughout the country, the key expert 2 (Development/Trade Economist) will provide the expertise and tools for the value chain analysis and supervise the economical and trade main issues within the work. He/she will analyse the economical and financial aspects within the Sustainability Assessment. He/she will work in strict collaboration with the key expert 3 (Food Science expert). He/ she reports to the Team Leader

The intended commencement date is the 4 January 2010 and the period of implementation of the
contract will be four months. from this date

Qualifications/Experience:
|
Qualifications and skills
-
Academic background as economist or equivalent
-
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Speaking and reading Kiswahili is an asset
-
Excellent drafting and analytical skills.

Computer literate
General professional experience
-
Ideally ten years experience in work related to International trade
-
Relevant experience on economic feasibility studies
-
Specific professional experience
-
Relevant experience in East African countries is an asset.

Knowledge of Value Chain Approach and Sub-sector mapping tools
