Description
:
|
The impact of the Project will be increased agricultural growth, through development of more efficient livestock and horticulture agribusinesses. This outcome will be achieved with the following outputs: improved agricultural marketing infrastructure with investment in slaughterhouses, small-scale horticulture market facilities, laboratories to certify products, and improved standards for horticultural products and product-management systems.

Qualifications/Experience:
|
The Laboratory Technician will:
-
A
ssess the training needs of the laboratory technical staff in the Raisin Institutes in the various regional centres;
-
prepare practical training plan, with assistance from the laboratory systems specialist, and establish monitoring framework and benchmarks.
-
implement in-country training program, and if available identify providers; and identify relevant regional training programs for the technical staff to attend so that they reach a sufficient level of proficiency in the sampling, and the various laboratory techniques so that laboratory tests are accurate, reliable, and certifiable;

provide on the job training to technical staff;

assist other team members in provision of awareness raising/ training to agribusiness enterprises and associations involved in dried fruit and nut production and export;

prepare laboratory technical procedures manuals.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology and/or Food Science
-
Five years experience in managing a regional food technology laboratory that tests food quality for all types of contamination
-
Thorough knowledge and significant experience in using various types of equipment to make the appropriate tests of contamination of, most importantly, dried fruit and nuts
-
Previous work experience in Afghanistan preferred.
