Position:

Oversight Engineer (slaughterhouse and small market infrastructure) (international, 5 person-months)

Description :

The impact of the Project will be increased agricultural growth, through development of more efficient livestock and horticulture agribusinesses. This outcome will be achieved with the following outputs: improved agricultural marketing infrastructure with investment in slaughterhouses, small-scale horticulture market facilities, laboratories to certify products, and improved standards for horticultural products and product-management systems.

Start/ Duration :

The Project will be implemented over the period to December 2013, which is the Project completion date

Qualifications/Experience:

• provide review and technical engineering oversight of the slaughterhouses and the project post harvest facilities to be contracted under separate project contracts.
• provide PMO with technical specifications and details on all aspects of the design and approval, and in terms of the quality assurance systems to be undertaken during construction.
• prepare regular reports in an agreed format for team leader and PMO detailing progress and any issues that arise.
• Provide clearance to PMO on quality as part of approval process for progress achievement.
• prepare reports as requested detailing oversight issues and progress.

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, with experience in small scale market infrastructure.
• Post graduate qualifications preferred;
• At least ten years of professional experience with experience as an oversight engineer, with at least five years experience in developing countries
• Previous work experience in Afghanistan preferred.
